Volunteer With True North Sanctuary
Help us build something meaningful.
True North Sanctuary is growing, and we’re looking for compassionate people who want to help animals and make a difference in our community.
Whether you love spending time with animals, don’t mind getting your hands dirty, enjoy building and property projects, have professional skills you’d like to contribute, or simply want to lend a hand, there may be a place for you here.
Because we’re still a young organization, our volunteer program is growing right alongside the sanctuary. Volunteers have the unique opportunity to help us not only care for animals, but also shape what True North becomes.
Ways You Can Help
Volunteer opportunities may include:
Feeding and animal care
Cleaning and sanitation
Cat socialization
Dog enrichment and socialization
Farm animal care
Laundry and organization

You don’t need professional animal experience to make a difference. Training will be provided for appropriate volunteer roles.
Family & Student Volunteers
We welcome interest from families, Ohio University students, and young people interested in animal welfare, veterinary medicine, wildlife conservation, nonprofit work, and community service.
Volunteers under 16 must volunteer alongside a parent or legal guardian. Additional restrictions may apply to certain animal-handling activities.
What to Expect
Before volunteering, we’ll ask you to:
Complete a volunteer application
Sign our volunteer waiver

For the safety of our animals, volunteers, and resident animals, True North Sanctuary follows biosecurity and animal-handling protocols.
Please note that True North Sanctuary is not currently open to the public and volunteer visits must be scheduled in advance.
